Crazy About Kits!- Week 2 (5x7 layout)

Finally, a Saturday afternoon to scrap! That hasn't happened in a long time! Perfect timing to start week 2 of my Crazy About Kits! class. Because I am sooo behind on by scrapin' I have LOTS of Halloween pictures to scrap (3 years worth!!!).

This layout was fun. Very basic--3 strips of paper, letter stickers, flowers, and hidden journaling tag. The only thing I added that wasn't included in my kit were 3 black brads.

Each year my mom hand makes the boys halloween costumes. This is something that I think she enjoys doing. I love it, because I don't have to buy the cheap plastic costumes from the store. PLUS they are original, one-of-a-kind costumes. Journaling on tag reads: "Every year Grandma Patrick hand sews your Halloween costumes! You pick the character and Grandmas creates a one-of-a-kind costume. Thank you Grandma!" Halloween 2006.

Crazy About Kits!- Week 2

The new week has been posted on Big Picture Scrapbooking! This week's focus is on Kit Clubs. I have a subscription to MemoryWorks Express Kit Club. Each month I receive coordinating scrapbook items--cardstock, patterend paper, embellishments, ribbon, and an item to alter. I really love this idea of scrapbook shopping. This removes the time it takes to shop for the paper and "stuff". More time to scrap! I have loved every months selections! So this week I will be using October's MemoryWorks Express Kit "Black Magic". Lots of Halloween pictures (see photo above)!!!! Fun!

This weeks assignments for the class include: alter a 5x7 canvas (something I purchased tonight for $5+the kit came with a photo cube), layout with 3 photos, 2 page layout, 5x7 layout, and 2 cards. I'm thinking that I will get more out of my kit, we'll see. Hopefully I'll have photos to post on Saturday.

Crazy About Kits!- Week 1 (DONE)

I have finished all my projects for week 1 of the Crazy About Kits! class. I am soooo proud of how much I have completed with one kit--3 layouts (one 2-page layout), mini album with 12 pages, a card, and an altered notebook.

This is what I started with (Love, Elsie-Toby Collection):
6 sheets of 12x12 double-sided patterned paper, one of each design
3 6x12 sheets of embellishment stickers
rub-on letters
6 mini ribbon spools (1 yard of each design)
Chipboard buttons (18)

The picture above shows what I have left. Pretty good, huh? Total MemoryWorks price=$20.50 The only thing I added was 4 sheets of cardstock paper. I think I made pretty good use out of this kit---AND I have a few pieces leftover that I can make use out of (maybe an altered luggage tag?!--it's on my to-do list!).

Crazy About Kits!- Week 1 (altered notebook)

Today I altered a cheap $2 notebook I picked up at the drug store. I think it turned out pretty cute considering I just used scraps leftover. I covered the front and back covers (inside & out), added a few stickers, and rub-on letters for "journal". This can be paired with the "See the World" card as a gift to someone going on a trip.

Super fun layout! Love the ribbons.

Crazy About Kits!- Week 1 (Mini Book)

I finished a mini album today----so excited!!! Every summer our family spends a week on a lake with my mom's side of the family. This is something I've been doing since I was a small child. Now our family has grown VERY large and many of us continue with the tradition. We always make sure to take LOTS and LOTS of pictures. One afternoon we always take a group photo and then take pictures of each individual family. This always takes up a ton of pages when I'm scraping the vacation. I thought this assignment would work perfect for a mini album! This album consists of all the family pictures during our 2007 vacation.

New look!

I decided to play around with my blog "look" tonight. I orginally just picked something and went with it. I thought I'd change things up and see how they go. This template seems to make viewing things a little easier and cleaner. I'm still working on a new title. Any suggestions??

Creativity: A Daily Dose- Day 29

I'm backtracking a little bit. This is one layout that I did not get finished during Sept. BUT....I came back to it! This assigment was to create a layout highlighting a photo that shows personality. I thought these 2 pictures of Dylan were perfect. As the journaling says, "A typical day for 4 year old Dylan--dirty and goofy. Aug. 2007" I have a ton of pictures from years past that I need to scrap, but the pictures I've taken recently seem to be the most fun to scrap. I will continue to scrap old photos, but sneek in a few recent ones here and there. The everyday photos are just as important as event photos (Christmas, birthdays, etc...).

Crazy About Kits!- Week 1 (Card)

This is VERY VERY simple. The paper did so much of the work for me, I didn't have to do much of anything! I thought this would make a fun card to send to someone that was taking a long trip. You can't see from this angle, but the paper is folded into 3rds. The "See the World" sticker actually overlaps the paper on the right side. The paper is double sided so the inside is purple with dots. Fold card, add sticker to cardstock and glue in place, add button embellishment---Done! The passion for travel is just part of the paper. This product line (Love, Elsie-Toby) is so much fun!

Crazy About Kits!- Week 1 (2-page layout)

I couldn't sleep last night so I got some more projects completed for the class! Yea!

This is a 2-page layout on the "Many Faces of Dylan" taken at his 4th birthday party. I'm happy to get all these pictures on a layout. It totally shows how much a ham he is in front of the camera. I framed the first picture with an acrylic stamp. Not sure if I'm liking that much--it's ok. For a 2 page layout it used minamal supplies. I'm sure I could have added more....

Journaling reads: "Always a ham in front of the camera! I guess that's why we call you Silly Dilly. Happy Birthday!!! Playstation May 2007"
