Little Waltz

Even in a crazy-madhouse weekend, I managed to get one layout completed! This layout was created with 2 challenges in mind. This week's song at Scrapping the Music was "Little Waltz". I didn't get it completed and photographed in time to make the slide show, but it was a great song and I just HAD to scrap it! I also used a sketch from Sketch This to complete the layout. Each Tuesday Sketch This will post a different sketch. Go check it out. All sketches are great to use for layouts OR cards!

The Amazing Race

Do you ever have those moments where you have a layout all planned out in your head, you start putting it together, and it bombs??!! Well, that's what this layout was. After cutting up 2 sheets of beautiful Rusty Pickle paper I decided it just wasn't working out. So, I had to go back to the drawing board and try to salvage some of my patterned paper. Here's what I came up with. I also got to play with some of my new Glimmer Mist on the chipboard numbers. Fun stuff! If you've never heard of this you'll have to check it out. It's like spray paint with glitter!

Of coarse I can't do a layout anymore without a challenge!

Dreamgirls Challenge Blog-Challenge #2: Get Real!--this challenge was to create a layout with the title from a reality show. With the insane number of reality shows out there, this wasn't much of a challenge. Other requirements were to use felt and stamping somewhere in the layout.

Snapdragons Challenge Blog-Challenge #15: Modern Paper Piecing--this was kinda fun. The layout must include some sort of paper piecing. I found this great template for a turtle online and used that to make my turtle. Isn't he cute??

Spring Decoration

I got creative for this one! The Scrappy Girl Designs April kit came with a little chipboard bird book. I decided to take it apart, cover and decorate each bird and connect them to make a little door decoration.

Love Like This

Here I go again......challenge time!!!

Scrapping the Music: this weeks song is "Love Like This" by Natasha Bedingfield. I decided that this was my perfect opportunity to scrap a layout of my husband.

Scrappy Girl Designs: this week it was Origin's turn to post a challenge on the Scrappy Girl Designs message board. Origin's challenge was to complete a layout using 5 or more fonts. I went a little crazy at the LSS Friday night and bought "a few" packs of Thickers stickers. I love Thickers!!!!

Video Gamer

Getting back to some challenges.....one Moments to Remember message board challenge for April is to create a layout in 30 minutes or less. This WAS a challenge for me! I am a super slow scrapper, so I really had to think fast and not ponder things too much. Once I set my mind to it, I cranked it out right at 30 minutes!

This layout was completed using the Scrappy Girl Designs April kit--Cherry Arte: Girl Power.

Just Perfect

2nd layout from Scrappy Girl Designs April kit! This time I used the other half of the kit with Crate Paper: Sweet Branch paper. I decided to make this a very simple page utilizing the backside of the patterned paper with just a touch of the patterned side. By printing my photos in wallet size, I was able to put all 4 pictures on the page without looking cluttered.

Scrappy Girl Designs April Kit

Monday afternoon I received the Scrappy Girl Designs April kit!!! Yippee!!! I've been working hard this week to get some layouts completed. I should have everything completed by this weekend.

The unique thing about the SGD kit's is that you get TWO separate kits! So that means two different lines of paper with matching embellishments. For my first layout I used the Cherry Arte: Girl Power paper. I was a little leery when I opened it up. I have 2 boys so I have little use for girly paper. So, I decided to scrap a layout of one of my daycare kids. I just love these pictures I took last summer and they work perfect with this paper. Mya is such a cutie!

Marley and Me

I finally finished another book! This month I read "Marley & Me: Life and Love with the World's Worst Dog" by John Grogan. It was a good book. I had a hard time getting through the first half of the book, but the last half went very quick. It captures the life of Marley, the authors dog. Marley is a dog with a zest for life. But with that zest also comes a lot of trouble.

Growing up we never had a dog. My husband, on the other hand, always had a dog. After we moved into our first house the question of owning a dog started popping up here and there. After 1 year, I finally gave in and we welcomed Jack into our family.

Marley & Me is a great book for dog owners. More than once I found myself saying "Jack does that too". I even found myself crying at the end of the book. A very heartfelt book for any pet owner. It makes you stop and think about how much your pets mean to you and how much they are a part of your family. Check it out!

Don't be Fooled....

I know...2 posts in one day??!! What can I say, I'm on a roll! I received my April MemoryWorks Express Kit yesterday and tore right into it! This layout was again combining a couple different challenges into one. It was a really fun one to create.

Snapdragons Challenge #14- Foolin' Around: I just found this site by clicking around different blogs. I thought this challenge sounded really fun. The challenge this month is to create a layout with the word "fool" somewhere in the layout (title or journaling). The title "Don't be fooled" keep popping in my head. Finally this layout came to me!

MemoryWorks April Challenge #3- Write a Recipe: Another challenge from the MemoryWorks consultant message board. For this challenge we were to create a layout with the focus on journaling. I am not typically a big on journaling, so this was a stretch for me.

Sketch This Designer Call: Again, another challenge blog that I stumbled upon while browsing the net. They just happened to be doing a design call and thought I'd give it a whirl. This layout was based on the sketch for the DT call.

Ok, what challenges can I combine for tomorrow???? I'm a sucker for a challenge......hey, at least it gets me thinking and scrappin'!

Turn it Up!

This was a really fun layout. I combined a few challenges to make this layout. It made it a little more interesting!

Scrappy Girl Designs April Challenge #1: Each week in April the design team at Scrappy Girl Designs will be posting a challenge. This week was Nikki's turn. Her challenge was to create a 6x12 layout that also included bling and rub-ons. It was kinda strange to work in such a "skinny" space, but it was fun!

MemoryWorks April Challenge #1- Scrapbook Recipes: Throughout the month of April Lacey is posting challenges on the MemoryWorks consultant message board. This first challenge was to create a layout or card using a sketch that she provided. I used her sketch for this layout!

Scrapping the Music
Challenge #31- Turn it Up: Lastly, Scrapping the Music posts a new song each week to use as inspiration. The song this week is "Turn it Up" by Aaron Lines. I used the song title for my title in this layout.

Phew! I know I'm kinda crazy, but it was fun putting everything today. Surprisingly it went really quick AND it was FUN!!!!

Family

This is another layout that I completed for the new scrapbooking store in town. I just love the colors of this paper! The title was created with my Cricut and white cardstock paper. After cut, I inked the letters with 2 different colors. I love how they turned out. The stars are made out of Grundgeboard and inked. I added Stickles to the "i" dot for some glitter. This picture was taken last year at our family vacation in MN. I think it's the best picture we've ever had taken. This captures a very special moment for all of us.

Sweet Dreams

Doesn't this just make you say, "awwwwwww...."? I created this layout for a new scrapbooking store in town--All About Pictures. I'm creating a few layouts to display in the store. This layout was a little of a challenge because I probably wouldn't have normally picked out these papers/embellishments. In the end I really like how it turned out!

I also created this layout for the "Dreamgirls" Challenge blog. Each month they will post 2 challenges on the 1st and the 15th. This is a brand new site! The challenge this month was to create a layout with "dream" incorporated into the layout. You also needed to include the following elements: scallops and/or curves & paint. You can check out this layout on their blog under "our reader's artwork". For each month they will pick a winner to receive prizes! Come check it out!

Gift Basket

I found these really cute wooden baskets at Michael's (for only $1!!!). I thought they would make fun, cute gift baskets for teachers. I painted the top inside portion with brown acrylic paint. The outside is covered with patterned paper using Mod Podge. For this basket I added a big flower to the front and a journaling spot on the back. The journaling spot can be used as the gift tag. Just add candy or flowers inside and you've got yourself a cute homemade gift basket!

Moments to Remember April Kit!

This past weekend I was hard at work scrappin' away with the April Moments to Remember kit! This kit was a lot of fun to work with. I love the color brown and this kit had lots of brown accents and flowers from Scribble Scrabble! Fun!!! I'll be posting pictures all week showing you my creations. If you want to see all of them right away--stop on over at the Moments to Remember gallery and check it out. I am the Guest Design Team member for the month---so excited!
