Snowflake Cousins

This is such a simple layout, but I really love it! The big snowflake is a Basic Grey chipboard snowflake covered with a little Pebbles, Inc paint and topped with some Stickles. My inspiration came from this sketch from So Sketchy posted back in December.

Scrap Whispers Challenge #14

How many times have you found yourself with scrappers block when it comes to creating a title for your layout? Personally I think it is the most difficult thing to do. I recently discovered however, a library of titles sitting right there in front of me..... in my music collection!! Your challenge this week therefore is to check out your I-pod or CD shelf and really take time to look at the names of the songs, the name of the albums and the artists. Choose one of these song names to create a title for a layout !

I choose to scrap about one of my favorite songs--"Waste" by Phish. Stop over to the Scrap Whispers Blog to see more examples from the other design team members.

I Am Green Today

This week's song at Scrapping the Music is fun song--"Colors" by Kira Willey. I just HAD to scrap these photos of Dylan at Christmas in his new Hulk attire. Perfect for this song!

Pictures of You and Me

I just love this fun picture of me and Dylan!

Challenges:
Scrapping the Music: The title came from last week's song Pictures of You by The Last Goodnight. I just love this song!!
Sketch This: The sketch was posted way back in October.
***I also added my own personal little challenge to this layout. This was the last layout I completed at the retreat last weekend. My ride was leaving in 1/2 hour and I had just finished a layout. Instead of packing up I decided to challenge myself to complete a layout within the 1/2 hour time frame. Wow! It was a whirlwind 1/2 hour!!! My layouts usually take me an hour (or so...). It's a simple layout, but I love the results!

Janice

I just wanted to take this moment to say how deeply saddened I was to hear about the loss of a very loved online scrapping friend--Janice Nielson. She frequented many different scrapping message boards and was always a very kind person. She was a member of my team for this round of Scrap Whispers. Her layouts are filled with fun photos of her family. She will be missed.

These are her daughter's words:

My mother passed away earlier today. She was getting dressed and she fell. I know that she loved all of you very, very much and I thought that you all should know this. I'll post later with funeral arrangements, should any of you care to know. Love, Rachel

Snow Much Fun

This is my FAVORITE layout that I completed on my scrapping retreat! This was my very first attempt ever at machine stitching on a layout. I know---craziness! Machine stitching has been popular for awhile now, but I was too afraid to do it (not to mention not knowing how to sew!!!).

I used this sketch from Creative Scrappers.

Driveway Duty

I just had to take a few shots of Tim cleaning the driveway off---again! This has become quite his obsession this winter, to keep the driveway clean.

I followed the January sketch posted on the Moments to Remember forum by Lyn.

Center Stage

A few photos from my little music man during his duet during the 2nd grade music program.

I decided to start raiding my stash of old paper to get ready for all the new products coming up!! Funny story about this layout....Since I'm using up my supplies, I didn't buy a whole lot before going on this retreat. I had these Thickers that I really wanted to use for this layout but I was missing e's in both sets of stickers. So, I decided to get creative. The "E" before the "R" is actually an "F" and a piece from another letter. The "e" in stage is a "c" with a piece of another sticker. :)

I used this sketch from So Sketchy as my inspiration.

Embrace

I'm so excited to share some new layouts with you!!!! I attended a scrapping retreat this weekend and completed 15 layouts----whooo hooo!!!! I will post one layout a day, so stop back again tomorrow. This is one of my favorite layouts from the weekend. I always forget to print pictures in black and white, but I really love how they look. I especially love how they look in this layout against the red background. I added one photo in color to pop out from the rest--our silly picture!

Challenges:
One Little Word- this weeks word is "Embrace". This became part of my title for this layout--"Embrace these moments".
Inspired Blueprints- I used this sketch as my inspiration for this layout.

My review

rating: 2 of 5 stars
This book was about as I expected--nothing spectacular, average teen book. I would have loved this book if I was 13. Loved the design and look of the book. Loved the quotes and references to music throughout the book. I feel like this book would make a good cartoon. Whether that's a good thing or not.....?

Peachy Cheap

Have you been to Peachy Cheap?? This is a wonderful discount online store that only has ONE thing on sale at a time. Some of you may be familiar with Woot.com?--this has a similar concept. Each day one scrapbooking related product is posted to the store at an incredible discount. The catch is, there's only a limited amount available to purchase. Once they are gone, they are gone. Another product will then be listed the next day. I am officially addicted to this site! Today I purchased this awesome 7 Gypsies stamp set for only $8.99 (+$4.99 shipping). This is 65% off of their regular price! Stop over and check it out---but beware, it's addicting!!!!!!

I need a warm vacation!

This is a great way to journal about your everyday life. Stop over to the Twelve of Twelve blog and check it out!

This week's challenge at Scrap Whispers is to create a layout with the tv show "The Brady Bunch" as your inspiration. Who doesn't love the Brady Bunch??!! Moments to Remember Challenges

Looking for some inspiration to get out your supplies and create?? Over at the Moments to Remember forum the design team and other members have put together some great challenges to get your mojo rollin'! Stop over and check it out!!!

Mara's Transparency Challenge: "This month it's all about transparencies!!! Use something transparent on your page or card. I used one as a base for this card, but you can use a transparent item any way you like on a card or layout. Can't wait to see your creations!!"
Melissa's Candy Challenge: "My challenge for you this month is to make a Candy present for your Valentine! You can make some packaging for your candy or chocolate, like I did, or alter a Candy Box or whatever you can think of! Be creative! And don't forget, you have the entire month of January to do it, just in time for Valentine's Day!!"

Sarah's (that's me!!!) Card Challenge: "This month's kit came with a sheet of journaling cards with lots of fun sayings. While they work great for layouts, I felt they were PERFECT for cards! Such an easy way to create lots of fabulous cards. My challenge for you this month is to create a set of 5 cards. They should all follow a similar theme (example: mine are all created using the January kit with a love theme). Your set of cards could be bundled together with some envelopes and given to someone as a gift. Or, just keep them for yourself!"

Ching's Cupcake Challenge: "My challenge to you this month is to make some cupcakes!! Its a great way of using up scraps!! In my version, I used a round styrofoam ball that I had left over from xmas, and I used a 6 inch diameter circle instead. Here is the link to the pattern and instructions: Cupcakes."
So, there you have it! Four very fun challenges to keep you busy this weekend! Make sure to stop over to the M2R forum and show us your work!
