Quality Time

We are leaving for vacation very soon and it's ALL I can think about. To pass the time, I've been scrapping some photos from previous vacations. Here's a photo of our view from the cabin in 2006. This is what I call "Quality Time".

Challenge:
Creative Scrappers- I've been working away on the sketches from last weekends "Sketchfest". For this layout I used this sketch. The challenge was to use stitching in your layout---no hand drawn stitches!!!

Last night I participated in a one hour sketch challenge at Creative Scrappers. It was crazy! A sketch was posted at 9pm and I had one hour to complete a layout and then 15 minutes to upload it to the gallery. It was fun. I was really surprised at how many people come out for it--over 30!

Here's the sketch we were given:

Camper

So, many of you already know that I love sketches. I just love the inspiration that it gives me to start a layout. Even if the layout ends up being something completely different, a sketch really jump starts my creativity. I recently found a new sketch blog/forum--Creative Scrappers. Each week they post a different sketch. At the end of the month they hold a random drawing for everyone that has completed a layout based on the sketches (one entry PER layout!!). They also have a forum and gallery where you can go and chat with other scrappers. Come check it out!

I decided to give last weeks sketch a try while scrapping on Friday night. Here's what I created:

Stick Boy

So, I was a little disapointed with myself at the crop on Friday night. I didn't plan my pages beforehand and I was a little rattled because of it. I did comple 4 layouts--so it wasn't a total loss. Here's one of them:

Here is a layout I completed of my son Dylan and his "self portrait". I have to admit that I did totally scraplift this from a layout I cut out of a magazine. I just loved the different elements with the scallops and circles and the square drawn around the page. So, I wasn't really being creative here---but isn't it cute???!!

Hush

After many complaints from Dylan that all I scrap is "Adam and Zach, Adam and Zach" he's been getting a lot of scrap time lately. Here's a great one of Dylan entertaining cousin Zach. I like to call him the baby whisperer. He loves to entertain the babies--and they love it!!

I created this layout at my weekend retreat a little while back. My friend had these really cute fabric flowers and didn't know what to do with them. It was a perfect addition to my layout--and she let me have it!!! Thanks Melissa!

I'm off to scrap for a fews hours tonight at Memories on 5th in Coralville. I should have some new creations to show you tomorrow (that is if I don't chat too much!!!).

Scrapdango DT Call

I've found a new cool scrapping site that I've recently started hanging out at. It's called--Scrapdango! They have 2 amazing kits each month--which is very cool. They are currently holding a Design Team call for 3 new design team members. Instead of just sending in a few layout examples, they are holding a 4 week contest/challenge. In the end, the current design team members will choose the winners. I thought it might be fun to play along. More than anything it's a fun little challenge for the next month. There is a weekly challenge and a bonus challenge that you must complete each week.

Week 1 Challenge- Create a ONE page 12 x 12 layout with the following:
·Must use the colors green, orange, & violet. Any shades or hues of these colors are allowed. All 3 of those colors must be used, but other colors may be used also.
·Must use a minimum of 5 different papers – patterned and/or cardstock.
·Must use scallops.
·Must use a minimum of 7 blossoms.
·Must use the quote: “If there’s anything half so much fun as being alive, I’d like to know what it is!” R. Beuchner
·Must use a minimum of 2 photos.
·Must include journaling, either hidden or visible. Please include the journaling in your description when uploading.

Here's what I submitted:

Week 1 Bonus Challenge-

Smooth Moves

This layout was completed using the very cool Crate Paper: Static line. This paper is soooo cool. It has the swirly cool distressed look that I love. I especially like the layering that I did in the bottom corner.
